Taira Murasame (村雨 泰来 Murasame Taira) is the lead actor of Tragic Marker, the film where Ren Tsuruga (who is disguised as Cain Heel) appears as BJ.

Personality

Murasame is apparently a spontaneous, wild and inpatient person[1]. He is quite serious towards his acting career and is quite successful despite his age (21). He is ambitious for he is aiming to become a Hollywood star like Kuu Hizuri[2]. He frequently watches Hollywood films with this in mind and checks the credits to know who acted in what for "one day they might be his rivals."[2]

He is honest about his background as a former gangster and doesn't try to hide the connection[3]. He takes pride in it actually, to the point where he might be a little conceited for he thought that "someone like him" shouldn't get scared at just being glared at (by Cain)[4].

He has a "Murasame Guide to Life" which basically are his favorite things such as "Murasame Core" (fried food) and "Murasame Blood" (soda)[5]. When he is stressed he writes Kuu's name on his hand and eats it[6]. He has a post-battle routine, where he aims to raise his blood sugar and temperature by drinking a soda and exercising rigorously[7][8]. He is a big fan of Kuu, especially when he portrayed Kyoshiro from Wild Slum, a delinquent who is feared by all but has a heart of gold (shown when the character saves a kitten from the cold rain and shields it with his jacket)[9].

Murasame is not afraid of confrontation as he often gets in Cain's face about his bad work ethic[10] and unprofessional behavior[11]. He often senses Cain's (or Kuon's probably) overwhelming blood-lust and murderous intent[12] when it's directed towards him and wonders frequently if Cain could be the real thing[13][14]. Murasame seems to have a short temper, as he frequently loses it with Cain[15][16] or becomes infuriated by Cain's lax attitude toward punctuality[17][18]. However much he hates Cain, he is able to begrudgingly admit that Cain's acting is amazing, his BJ flawless, and Murasame understands that his acting is no where near his level[19].

Background

From his second year of middle school until he turned 17, Murasame was a member of a delinquent gang who earned himself the nickname "Akazame" (Red Rain/Red Shark) for "where Murasame appears, a rain of blood will fall."[20] He reached legendary status as a delinquent, for his name was well-known and feared all over the Kinki (area around Osaka, Kyoto and Nara)[20]. This suggests that Murasame is not originally from Tokyo but hails from one of these cities. It is due to his delinquent days that he is an experienced fighter[21][22]. The experiences he gained in the world of delinquents have served him well in the cut-throat world of showbiz[23].

Appearance

Murasame has wavy, black hair which he wears a little long and falls just short of his shoulders. He has a long fringe and looks quite tall but not as tall as Cain Heel (190cm)[24]. His clothes are stylish but casual and reflect his youth as he was wearing cargo pants and a hoodie the day Cain Heel joined the filming[25].

Plot

Dark Breath arc

At 21, he's very serious about his acting career and hopes to someday appear in Hollywood much like Kuu Hizuri[2].

When Cain Heel first appears on set, Murasame, much like everyone else in the cast, is very frightened of him[26]. Initially he is impressed by Cain thinking that he is already in character due to his murderous aura, so as to make up for being late[27]. As expected of a Western actor!

Konoe wants Murasame to "test BJ's temperature," basically pick a fight with him, which he does but gets scared off[28]. His pride as a former gang member refuses to let him back down, even after Cain threatens him for taking an interest in his sister Setsuka[29]. Murasame essentially declares war on the other actor in order to get him to take the movie seriously[30].

Cain Heel and Murasame clash many times, which results in lots of violence and almost death[31][32]. Kyoko-as-Setsuka even saves Murasame's life once by shouting up at Cain-possessed-by-Kuon during a tense fight that could have led to either actor's death or serious injury. [33] The sound of her voice allowed Ren to regain control and then maneuver in such a way that only Murasame landed in the low-weight-tolerance canvas the crew were holding.

Relationships

Lory Takarada

Lory Takarada has taken interest in adding Murasame to LME, while speaking with Ren and Yashiro. We don't know if this will progress, but it could potentially create unwanted conflict between actors if Murasame was to recognize Cain as Ren and Kyoko as Setsuka.

Cain Heel

Murasame declares Cain an enemy, almost disliking the other actor as soon as he meets him. He incorrectly assumes due to Setsuka whispering English in Cain's ear, that he can't speak Japanese[34] and is annoyed to find out (when Cain threatened him in Japanese to stay away from Setsu) that he actually can but refuses to[35]. Being an impatient person, Murasame is easily angered by Cain who deliberately holds the shooting up by being extremely late. Murasame is dedicated to his job and resents Cain for being so blasé about it. He doesn't like Cain's negative attitude towards cooperation and teamwork within a professional atmosphere for Murasame believes everyone on a set should work together and try for some semblance of harmony[36]. However Murasame has a begrudging respect for Cain due to his incredible acting ability[19]. He also takes to heart what Cain says about being blessed with an actor's good luck [19], referring to an actor being remembered for their role rather than their name.

Setsuka Heel

Murasame doesn't really notice her at first as he was so overwhelmed by Cain's presence. When he does pay more attention to her, he realizes how cute she is and is eager to get some time alone with her[37]. When he sees her getting water from the vending machines he debates with himself how to approach her and initiate a conversation[1]. He decides to use the opportunity to find out more about Cain's history as actor, making fun of him in the process[38]. Setsuka hits him with a water bottle angry for "My big brother is not a second-rate actor."[39]. Murasame is surprised to find out they're siblings not a couple and says as much, then is confused by Setsuka's abnormal reaction (she blushes) thinking most siblings would be disturbed to hear they look like a couple[40]. His interest and his conversation is cut short when Cain arrives. He threatens Murasame: "You piece of crap. I'll kill ya if you get too close to her."[41]. Due to this he doesn't seek out Setsuka anymore however he is annoyed to hear that the Heel siblings may be in a more...intimate relationship. When Setsuka and Cain are blatantly hugging on set, he interrupts them by by pulling them apart. "You pervy siblings!"[42] He is a bit taken aback at Setsuka's actions when she shoves Manaka on to the floor and then declares her ownership over Cain Heel.

Konoe

The director and Murasame seemed to get along well. Konoe is impressed by Murasame's fighting skills, having heard the rumor that he is a former gangster[3]. Murasame, who often loses his temper, makes Konoe a little nervous since he often guesses accurately as to what is keeping Cain from the set. Cain and Setsu were late because they were shopping around like tourists which Murasame guessed as much but Konoe decided not to tell the crew this for obvious reasons.

Manaka

Murasame and Manaka seemed to have a good relationship having been together on the Tragic Marker set for over a month. Manaka is amazed and impressed that Murasame is aiming so high as an actor (to be a Hollywood star)[43]. Murasame scolds Manaka for not being more ambitious as an actress[43]. Manaka knows Murasame well enough to decode his "Murasame Guide to Life," knowing that "Murasame Core" is fried food and "Murasame Blood" is soda[20]. He is annoyed by her when she says she met Kyoshiro, angered at the thought that someone might be trying to pose as one of his favourite roles of Kuu for he will acknowledge no one else. Murasame is shocked when Manaka develops a crush on Cain but soon becomes resigned to it.
