Manga ACT.164

Igarashi (五十嵐) is the stunt double for Hidehito Kijima in Dark Moon.

Personality[]

Igarashi is clearly a professional, not only due to his skill driving, but that he regards handling unexpected and dangerous situations as simply part of doing the job. [1]

He also doesn't seem to want attention, as he deflects Ogata's attempt to congratulate him and his inquiry into his state of being.[2]

Igarashi is observant. He would have to be to have pulled off the car stunt, and the unexpected spin-out safely. He also notices and watches from a distance when Ren doesn't get out of his car.

Appearance[]

Igarashi's true appearance is somewhat unknown, as he is styled to look as close as possible to Hidehito Kijima in his role. Igarashi does appear to have a slightly narrower face.

Plot[]

Violence Mission arc[]

Igarashi and Itsumi Momose perform the car stunt scene with Ren, who is alone in the other vehicles. On the scheduled day of the shoot they rehearse it perfectly off-camera.

When they do the second rehearsal, this time on-camera, a little boy runs onto the road between them. Both Igarashi and Ren slam on their brakes hard enough for the sound of it to reach the Box "R" set filming nearby. In the back seat, Momose is screaming in fear throughout the stunt, since she was not a fan of rollercoaster ride [3]

Igarashi and Ren manage to keep their vehicles spinning in sync with each other so that neither car crashes into the other and the boy isn't hit. Onlookers, crew, and cast are all impressed by the excellent driving skills demonstrated by both Igarashi and Ren to have accomplished this. [4]

Igarashi is standing by himself, away from Ren, and watching the situation when he doesn't appear to get out of the car. [5]

During the Dark Moon after-party interview Momose reveals that she had asked Ogata to ride in the car with Igarashi. Originally they were supposed to cut her into the scenes later. Momose, who doesn't even like rollercoaster rides, found it so scary she couldn't move. [6]

Confession arc[]

Yashiro refers Kyoko to Igarashi for stunt practice for her Momiji audition as he was a great help to them during Dark Moon. Igarashi admits he specialises more in car stunts and refers her on to a stunt double training coach. [7]

Quotes[]

  • (to Kyoko Mogami and Hiroaki Ogata) I'm all right. But Tsuruga. There's something wrong with him.[8]

Etymology[]

  • The surname Igarashi means "fifty" (五十) (ig) and "storm, tempest" (嵐) (arashi).
