Voice Acting as Kyoko Mogami[]

The Skip Beat! dub team released behind the scenes interviews for their Kickstarter backers. One interview question is being featured until the video is released to the public.

How do you get in character for Kyoko's darker moments when she's seething with vengeful anger?

  • "Hmm. Can only think of a couple times in my life that I have been that angry. Maybe actually only one. So, uh, if I really needed to and felt like I couldn't get the feelings I needed just from watching what's onscreen, then I kinda pull from personal experience. But what's so wonderful about working in anime is that everything that you need as an actor is provided to you. In the words that you're given to say and mainly what you're seeing onscreen. That what you see affects the sounds that you make come out. You don't have to imagine it. You don't have a blank page that you have to somehow fill with a face and all these emotions. You go: 'What face is she making? OK. I'm gonna give that the correct emotion.' On top of that you have a soundtrack which really encourages you to feel all the right things. It's kinda wonderful."[4]
