Violence Mission, Phase 3.5 is the 156th chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.

Plot

Cain takes Setsuka to a clothes store. He keeps sighing and Kyoko is worried she is somehow doing the part wrong.

Chapter Summary

Cain and Setsuka's hotel room is empty, the coupons and gifts scattered on the floor.

Kyoko is struggling to keep up with Cain, who is dragging her along by the wrist. She shouts at him, asking where they're going, and the two of them are attracting attention on the street. Ren doesn't answer.

Kyoko tries to understand the look on his face back at the hotel room before he grabbed her. It didn't look like he wanted to kill someone but there was a strange light shining out of his eyes that made her heart jump for a moment. She thinks for a moment and realizes that she's not acting like Setsuka at all, letting Cain dragging her like this. She slips into character.

Cain comes to a stop and turns to face his sister. She'd slipped her wrist out of his grip and instead held his hand with hers.

"My feet hurt," Setsuka says after a moment of eye contact, her tone matter-of-fact. "You're walking too fast."

The look Cain gives Setsuka reminds Kyoko of the retake moment at Ren's apartment door when they role-played Katsuki and Mizuki. She struggles to figure out what she did wrong.

Cain apologizes. "The store's about to close so I was in a hurry." He lets go of Setsuka's hand. She asks him again where they're going and he tells her to just follow him.

Which is what she does when he turns and keeps going, however her gaze is everywhere as she tries to figure out their destination. She almost misses it when he turns direction until he calls out "Setsu."

Kyoko is embarrassed that she still hasn't gotten hold of her character. Setsu would never take her eyes off her brother like that. They arrive at a store called Jeanne d'Arc, which Kyoko recognizes as Maria's favorite.

"Setsu," Cain asks as they go in, "you don't have a lot to wear, do you?" Kyoko realizes that he's right, she only has what Jelly brought with her. "Choose some things that you like. I'll get them for you."

Kyoko starts to protest, alarmed at the idea of Ren Tsuruga buying her clothes. She stops herself, however, knowing that Setsu would love this offer. "You sure?" Setsu says instead. "If you're going to buy my clothes I'm gonna get lots. OK?"

Cain chuffs in amusement and tells her to get whatever you want. Kyoko's pleased at earning Ren's first smile after completely becoming Cain Heel. She grins happily to herself at having pleased him, but when she notices to customers staring at her, she remembers to slip back into character. Thinking back again about their roles, Kyoko understands that not only does Setsu love Cain too much, but Cain loves her back just the same way. Kyoko's actually a little sickened by the idea of two siblings being into each other that much. It's a cycle: she clings to him when he dotes on her despite being cold to others, and he dotes on her for adorably clinging to him. Which means, since Cain loves her babyish side, Setsu should've been more emotive with her feelings about being dragged around.

Kyoko wonders what Ren would have done if she'd acted angry or pouted back then. Would he have sulked and played up to soothe and coax her? Kyoko gets a little nervous because she'd really like to see that.
