|Kiss and Cry|
|Character/s in the cover||Kyoko Mogami|
Kiss and Cry is the 136th chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.
Honami and Yuka admit they were genuinely scared when they saw Kyoko smile. Honami claims it wasn't Kyoko, but their own living and breathing Natsu. It is exactly what Honami once laughed off, Kyoko being capable of the legend of a true actor who gets taken over by the character. For the first time in her life, Honami finds the prospect of acting terrifying, because she doesn't know if she's up to making her Kaori the near-equal of Kyoko's Natsu.
Chiori is remember her past, which includes two refusals from directors. She approaches Kazutoyo to talk about her acting but is cut off by his enthusiasm over her performance. He makes a slip about her returning to TV, and then ushers her away for tea. Kazutoyo reveals he knew all along that Chiori was Akari. He's close with Okuya, the director of the show that she got burned on. Okuya's followed her career all this time and strongly recommended her for Yumika in the hopes she could return to her old self. Chiori is stunned to hear Kazutoyo tell of the faith Okuya has in her even now.
Alone, Chiori thinks that she only acted the way that she did because she was provoked by Kyoko. Chiori starts crying when she realized that she'd abandoned her work and wasn't a true actress anymore. Kyoko comes across her, having been looking for her to fulfill her end of the bargain.
Mako's manager is insisting that she was mistreated during the bullying scene and it shouldn't happen again. Kazutoyo protests that she's being overprotective, and the manager gives him a piece of her mind for treating a female about to debut that way. Angry now, Kazutoyo calls her out on her sexism.
Kyoko blames herself for Chiori's tears and starts to perform a dogeza, but Chiori makes her stop. She says that being apologized to by a winner like Kyoko would only make her feel worse. So Kyoko thanks her instead, which infuriates Chiori. Kyoko explains that she wasn't mocking her but being sincere. Since she was bullied all throughout school, she never thought she'd be able to be calm about—nevermind enjoy—a scene like they just performed. Her head didn't like it, but Natsu's character came alive in her heart because of Chiori. Kyoko felt joy and then confusion because she felt joy. It's all new to her, like a whole new world opening up. She's thrilled and excited, and it was Chiori who pulled it out of her.
