The Cursed Night is the 20th chapter of the Skip Beat! manga series.
Plot
Ren upsets Kyoko by poking at her vulnerabilities. A little while later Kyoko fills in as a mascot on a variety show, only to have the guest turn out to be the person she hates the most. It is truly a cursed night for Kyoko...
Chapter Summary
Kyoko is shocked that Ren knew where she was from. When she asks how he knew, he tells her that Kyoto produces blue stones like the one she has.
Kyoko is charmed by the idea, until Ren reveals that he lied, Kyoto doesn't have blue stones. He tells her she is easily fooled by men and asks if she has already had her heart broken trusting someone. He asks if the person who broke her heart was the person (Sho) that she mentioned before.
Remembering his bad reaction and thinkng that he is maliciously teasing her, Kyoko turns to leave, but is Ren notes that because she hasn't said anything, he knows that he is right. Kyoko privately wishes to never have to get near such an infuriating person as Tsuruga Ren.
Kyoko is pissed, she gives Ren a rude finger and storms off. Ren is left waiting in the stairwell for his manager, Yashiro. Ren wonders how a person could change so much and it is revealed the Ren was the one gave her the stone when they were both children. He is Corn.
Several weeks later, Moko is still not talking to Kyoko and Kyoko is avoiding Ren like the plague, certain that if she runs into him he will say something cruel. She regrets giving him the finger.
Then, Mr.Sawara offers her the chance to be part of a television show. She runs to tell Kanae, but Moko is disappointed to find out that the 'television job' is simply being part of a studio audience. When the manager for the host of the show approaches them, asking if it would be possible for one of them to take the plac of someone who had to drop out, she is eager to do it, until she realizes the part is being dressed as a large, fat chicken and entertaining the crowd as a sort of mascot.
Soon Kyoko is onstage in the chicken outfit, when she finds out that on this debut of the show, Sho is the guest star. Inside her chicken outfit, Kyoko is horrified...
